Boy Nappies versus Girl Nappies

My DC1 is a girl, out of nappies. DC2 is a boy, now 18mo.

Is it just my memory letting me down, or do boys really get through a lot more nappies than girls?

If so, is it because the wee is focused in one area rather than spreading through the whole nappy?

Also....more dirty nappies with boys or is that just down to DC2 having a better appetite?

IIRC, there used to be boy- and girl-baby specific nappies on the market back many years ago, at least 20 a while ago. I wonder why that concept didn't continue?

I only have the one DD but compared to my friends with boys her age I haven't noticed a difference. If anything I end up changing DD more often because she rages as soon as she's too wet whereas the boys I know are happy for ages with soggy bots.

There were boy and girl nappies on the market when ds1 was a baby, can't remember when they became unisex. Ds1 is 16 now. The "boy" nappies were more absorbent at the front and the "girl" ones at the back. I think Pampers and co. then brought out the unisex ones, saying that the nappies were now super-de-dooper on both front and back so no need for gender-specific ones.
When I used cloth nappies on ds3 and ds4, I remember looking up folds for terry squares and there were some that were more for girls than for boys, again folding the nappy so that the front or back were more absorbent. However I don't ever remember anyone saying that girls or boys peed more or less than each other, I think it was the direction the wee went in that was different

Ok, maybe it is just that with boys the wee is all in one place.

Even Pampers Baby Dry can't cope with my DS's output at night time! I have to change him in the night because first thing in the morning, like most men, he likes to have a poo (sorry TMI!) and a soggy-at-the-front nappy just can't cope with that at the back as well!!

My DS definitely wees a lot more than DD. When we occasionally leave her nappy off, I am always amazed by the tiny little wees she does We tried reusables with ds and had to give up at about 6 months because nappies were only lasting a maximum of an hour or so

My ds definitely wees more than dd too! I wish they did boy nappies. Its always saturated at the front!

I remember dd doing tiny wees as well, when ds was potty training it was like a fountain! Obviously the smaller the baby, the smaller the bladder. That's why her wees seemed to small compared to 2yo ds'. Ds always drank more than dd so that's why his nappies were more wet.

Have you tried Asdas little angels? They are fab. My DS uses those, he is also 18 mo. he goes 12 hours then does a poop when he gets up and no leaks xx

I am trying asda little angels at the moment and they are even less absorbent at night than pampers. DS is soaked by 3am but as he doesn't wake with it I leave him. Am seriously considering boosting his nappies with incontinence pads at night; has anyone else tried this?
