Hey peeps
My DS has a really good vocab but no 2 way conversation skills and not really doing more than 2-3 word sentences. I don't expect to have proper conversations with him but his peers seem to all string together sentences and be able to have simple two way chat. My DS's words all tend to be him pointing things out, 'look scary dinosaur' in a book, asking for things or types of play 'play horsie mummy?', counting steps he walks down and answering specific questions I ask him, like what did you do today at nanny's? Is met with silence but if I say did you make a cake with nanny, he might say, 'yes, cake at nanny's - yum'.
Is this normal? How can I get him to talk more, rather than say 2/3 word sentences?
He mispronounces and babbles quite a lot but the HV thought he was in the normal range st his 2 year review as he does have loads and loads of words and seems to understand everything but his speech just seems very babyish still.
I know it could be a lot worse but he seems way behind his peers, who all seem to chat away and I'm not sure if its a) normal and b) if there is anything I can do to improve things? I do try and model back sentences as often as poss.
Anyone else have the same issues?
