Only sleeping on my chest!

My seven month old DD has had a cold and trouble sleeping this week. This has now manifested Into only being able to sleep on my chest. If I try to put her down, even if she looks asleep, she wakes and screams. I have given up trying to put her in her cot and am cosleeping atm, but she won't even lie down next to me without blowing her lungs out. Last night she gave up at 1.30am with another three feeds before 8am.

So tired. Any advice please?

My DS was like this for what felt like months at a time. Best advice I can give is get your bed ready so that you can start off sitting up with her on your chest, with you propped up on pillows and the quilt over you up to waist height. Then just shuffle down bit by bit until you are lying down and if possible ease her to the side a bit.
Lots of pillows and a DH ready to chuck the quilt on you/help get you comfy help.
My DS had phases of this but went back to usual sleeping patterns on his own afterwards.
Oh, and have a hug. It's hard but it does pass.

Have a hot water bottle warming the space that she will be placed so temp does not change to much.

If she is snoring and doesn't usually then perhaps still congested from her cold. Could try snot-sucker thingy before bed if you can bear it, or tub of hot water with a few drops of baby olbas in it next to where she sleeps.

Oh yes ChocolateSpiders, good idea. I used grobags for that reason.

Oooh not heard of Baby Olbas. Will look for that to tomorrow.

Thank you for those suggestions. I just needed to know I wasn't alone. DH can't settle her and it's starting to wear me out as I don't get a break. I go back to work in five weeks - guess I might be panicking a bit over sleep.

I can remember raising one end of dd's cot just a little bit when she had a cold by placing books under the head end legs..

She is 15 now and I remember her sleeping on my chest for many hours {LUSH}

It happened all of 2 yrs ago to my DS. I used to douse myself in baby olbas, prop myself and my arms up to hold him, and he would snuggle up and sleep on me. Lasted a few weeks and then I shifted him to sleeping like red riding hood's grandma. Propped up, partly covered and then i would curl up around him, and then slowly weaned off.

It's wearing down! Olbas, baby Vicks on feet, Vicks diffuser humidifier in the room and the time period of sickness shortens a bit.
