How to entertain a 4month old......

Hi there, I'm posting because I'm a first time mum who needs some advice on how to entertain a 4 month old. Lola, like most other babies, hardly slept at night to begin with, but now sleeps 11 hours a night on average between6pm and 5am, which is brill!!,
This however means that her naps are very short during the day, even though. Or her down for naps in the morning and afternoon, they are very short ones!!!
I'm just trying to think of some things that might entertain her as she's very awake in the day, so she doesn't get bored, as I'm aware at 4 months there are only certain things you can do. Here's what I already try:

Playmat
Swing
Chatting, talking
Walks in the pram
Sitting by the window together - she loves looking out!
Tv (very occasionally) but only for a few mins so I can have a quick bath.
Laying on the rug and getting her to grab and touch different textured things.
Going shopping- she loves being nosy
Door bouncer- although she doesn't know what to do

Is there aching else I can be doing to help her develop, stop her being bored, or entertain her in between her short naps??.

I'm trying my best to think up ideas!!!
Look foward to hearing some more!!,

Mine likes rolling about naked.... little nudist
Just pulling her clothes off makes her grin and laugh

Talk! I'm sure you do lots of that though. My twins just like me to talk to them about all kinds of absolute rubbish!

Sounds like you do lots with her so just relax and enjoy :).

My goodness...it sounds as if you loads already with her. You are far more inventive than I was. I put DD in the carrier and did housework and went for walks. It saved me having to be a one woman entertainment centre so I wasn't so exhausted at the end of the day.

mummy2lola · 24/02/2013 16:23

Oh yea, the carriers are brill- aren't babies nosy? They love it?

I think you are covering all of the things you can do with a 4 month old. My dd loved to be read to. In fact, if we were out and about and she started crying I could recite 'Shark in the Park' to her and she would instantly quieten down. In a few short weeks she will be rolling, sitting, crawling and then starting to talk so enjoy your lovely baby whilst you can - once they become mobile you need eyes in the back of your head. (it is so much fun though!)
