DD always wants others toys...

My 19 month old DD constantly wants whatever her friend is playing with . I am sure it is very normal, but I struggle to find the best language to use to keep the situation harmonious.

She isn;t used to sharing... so should I make her 'take turns' or when she snatches or pushes her friends take her to the naughty step?
Usually she is a very caring child, but recently she simply doesn't want anyone else to touch her belongings.
Any idea's of how to tackle this one please?

i would try and get her used to taking turns if you can.. it is hard at that age though.
you could practise with her though at home. get some toys out and pretend to play with one... then give it to her... then make her give it back to you etc etc

ds is only 15 months but if he takes something from another child I always take it from him and give it back to them, and then distract him with something else

Distraction.

Silly over-excitable voice, grab nearest toy "OOOOOO-OOOOOOH, look at THIS!!!"

Don't punish or anything, it isnt naughtiness. She will learn, meanwhile try to keep things sweet but you can't win them all.

I used to have this problem with dd and her friend who was 6 months older. We used to "manage" it by giving each a turn, distracting the other until the first had lost interest (doesn't take long at that age) and talking them through it as in "now x has finished so you can have a turn", or countng down for say a turn on a swing or ride on.
