4 year old normal behaviour?

My DS1 is 4 and thriving at preschool no major issues loves it, learning well etc.

A mum approached me in the playground and said her DS had mentioned that my DS was playing rough with hers. Now my DS normally not too rough and quite thoughtful but is very active. She said she thought I would want to know?!

Mot sure what to do, my DS never mentions her DS and sort of has his own little group of active boys. Do I tell the teacher? No sure what she expects me to do with info as he is not hitting him? And as I said my DS not really aggressive in anyway! Any thoughts much appreciated.

I would smile and walk off, probably. What did she expect you to say?!?

I wouldn't ask the teacher about it unless you are worried (if you are, of course do!)

If there is a problem between your ds and hers, she can talk to the teacher. And the teacher can talk to you if need be.

Sorry if I sound callous, but these days I just can't be taking every tiny little incident seriously. People have such different thresholds for what constitutes a problem.

Thanks greensleeves, I agree, what I meant to do with that information, he is 4 just started preschool and they are all finding there way. Just needed to have someone else say it.

If you are concerned I would talk to the preschool teachers.

The mother might have the name of the wrong child and it might not be your DS.

I'd ask for a bit more detail, it seems a little open ended.

I think I would ask my Ds if he was ever rough with anyone and just remind him gently anyway that it is important for children not to be too rough just in case. A reminder never does any harm. Worth remembering that the other boy may well have made this up entirely. It's not malicious but Dc that age often tell fantastical stories. About 50% of my Dc's school stories are completely made up.
