4 month old waking every 2-3 hours for feed

Our dd2 wakes 3 or 4 times every night and screams until she gets a boob, usually falling asleep within a couple minutes of sucking. I can't wind her once she falls asleep, so I wonder if wind is sometimes what is waking her. It seems like comfort to get her back to sleep, rather than hunger.

I'm always worried she will wake up the house, so I cave and let her feed. She won't take a dummy either.

Grateful for any tips on what I can do to help her sleep for longer.

don't worry about wind - it doesn't affect BF babies as much.

it probably is comfort, and i know lots of people will say "try this try that", but I say don't worry about it for now.
Don't even try to attempt to sleep control for now - even the hardiest sleep trainers agree that before 6 months it can't work (and i wouldn't even do it before a year, personally)

does she sleep in her own cot?
we have co-slept with DD since about 2weeks old because it was easier to feed her back to sleep and stay sane if she was just there :)

I have to say. i might not be the best for advice, because i'm still feeding her to sleep twice in the night at 14mo...

I don't think there's anything unusual about a 4month old waking up every couple if hours. It's about par for the course I'm afraid.
In my experience, crying babies rarely, if ever, woke up other kids, so it might be worth experimenting with leaving her for a couple if minutes to see if she settles herself. You could gradually extend this time if it works. Might take a few nights to start working though - you have to be strong

Wind certainly does affect some EBF babies! Perhaps try what Phyllis suggested, with some circular tummy rubbing to help soothe if she's windy? That said, it does seem pretty par for the course for a 4 month old to still take in several night feeds.

not that it doesn't affect at all - but if the baby was windy, she wouldn't sleep, not that she would wake up 3 hours later.

Perfectly normal to be waking every 2-3 hours for feeds at this age, especially at 4 months as there's a lot of growing and developing going on right now.

Feeding is perfectly fine!

My nearly 4 mo goes to bed at 7ish. Wakes about midnight for 3oz. Wakes again about 3am for 3oz. Up at half six ish for the morning.

I think every couple if hours at this age is normal. A quick drink and they're off to sleep again.

All my dc have been like this.

I've just put it down to it being part of having a lo. It's what they do. Sorry I know that's not helpful. But you're not alone

Sounds like plenty of people have wakeful bubs at this age. My DD1 was one feed at midnight and waking at 7am by four months. I think I have high expectations because of this.

PhyllisDoris, I def think it's worth a try to let her resettle herself for one or two of these wakings. Esp as I'm pretty sure it isn't hunger but rather a habit of feeding to resettle.
