13mo with no attention span whatsoever!

Ds3 is 13mo, crawling and cruising a bit but not walking and no words yet. Ds2 is at Pre school 2 and a half days a week so in theory I have more time to play with ds3 now but he is driving me insane! He loses interest in books after a couple of pages, he won't stack things or play with shape sorters, basically any toy he gets his hands on he examines for a few seconds, puts it in his mouth, bashes it a bit then chucks it down and goes for something else! It's maddening. He is quite rough in general, grabs at us and bites Hmm a fair bit. Is this normal?? My others weren't like this at all and they are all boys! Help!

Yes it's normal. Ds1 was very hard to keep entertained at this age even though he was walking. They experience everything through their mouths so instantly start biting and mouthing things, banging and bashing things, getting frustrated and bored. I don't know many one year olds who are any different to be honest. Just to reassure you my DS1 is now 5 and has an amazing vocabulary, endless patience and attention span though still likes to be on the move a lot. Never been one for sitting in front of the tv or anything for too long but that's fine by me.

My DS2 who is 13 months is slightly more calm... (very slightly) but still doesn't really 'do' shape sorting, just whacks the shapes together and throws things etc. I think it's totally normal.

Oh and the grabbing and biting. My DS2 does that too. It's infuriating! I am not sure if DS1 did it or not, I certainly don't remember him doing it but then I've maybe blocked it out!
