6.5 yr old son still got no wobbly teeth. Is this normal?

all his classmates have had a visit or two from the tooth fairy but mine has not so much as a wobble! Is this the norm? It doesn't seem so to me

My eldest DS was the same, didn't lose first tooth until he was eight, and his front teeth until he was almost nine. All his friends were walking around like Barry Gibb and he was there with his tiny perfect rows of baby teeth. No problem the dentist said, they'll come out eventually. Now 10, he's still only lost eight of them.

My ds2 was the same. Didn't lose any for ages and then the tooth fairy nearly went bankrupt

dd1 is in year 1
she's lost lots of teeth - several of her friends have lost none

Sometimes it's hereditary. I was late losing mine. DS didn't start losing his until he was 8/9 and lost the last ones at 13/14! Orthodontist he was referred to at 11 deferred his treatment (braces etc) for almost 2 years as he had 'the dental age of an 8 year old' when first referred.

My son is the same age and no wobbles here. My family tend to be late acquiring and then losing teeth - he was 12m when he got his first baby tooth, DS2 was 16m!

DS1 is 8yrs old. Not a wobble.
He asked me take him back to the dentist to complain as all his mates have had visits from the tooth fairy.

My daughter is 6.5 and also has the full compliment of baby teeth. My son of nearly 9 has only lost about 6.

Ds3 (6.8) has just lost his first two and a third one is wobbly. Nothing, then all at once. Apparently the going rate for the tooth fairy is now £2. It was £1 when his brothers were little. Inflation!

I lost mine late, my DS1 is 9 and has only lost 8. DS2 is 6.5 and still has no wobbly ones yet, I wouldn't worry they will come out when they are ready.

Pfft, it's still £1 around here - there's a recession on don't you know!

What age did he get his first teeth?

Dd1 didn't get any teeth until 10 months and didn't loose any until she was nearly 7yo. The dentist said it's better to be late, and typically if they were late to start coming they're late to fall out too.

And £1 is only the first tooth. After that it's 50p if the tooth fairy remembers

Our tooth fairy is a bit erratic too.

our tooth fairy visited us for the first time last night she said it was £2 for first tooth and £1 after!

Should I sack her? I like the sound of tooth fairy who pays 50p.

I posted a similar thread when my DS was 7. He lost his first tooth at 7.5 and the dentist said it was fine to loose them later, in fact the layer the better.

Ds1 is 7 yo today and has just one wobbly tooth, which shows no signs of actually going anywhere yet. Tooth fairy will bring £2 for first tooth and £1 thereafter. Bit pricey if you ask me, but well, it seems to be a nice round number and she's always got them in my her purse...

oh good! A friend of mines son has just had 8 milk teeth out (they are born a day apart) - was starting to get worried!

DS is 6.5 and has lost 6 or 7 teeth - his best friend who is 7.2 hasn't lost a single tooth yet. She is sulky about this!

DD1 has just lost her 2nd tooth at 6.5 - the first one fell out a couple of weeks ago. Both (front bottom) teeth had the new teeth growing behind the baby teeth for a few weeks beforehand too. I was slightly concerned that they'd be set back but now that the baby ones have come out the new ones seem to be moving into position.

DS2 was 8 before he had even a hint of a wobble. He still has a few baby teeth now at 15. He's waiting for them to fall out before he has braces. My BIL still had one or two baby teeth at 21.

Even if the dentist has to take late milk teeth out the tooth fairy still pays up. I was thrilled at having 3 out in one go!
