Leap pad a waste if they already play with an iPad?

My DD is 2 and a half and plays with DH's iPad all the time, can work it really well, listens to stories, plays per school apps, does puzzles and drawing etc.

Trying to decide on a gift to get her for when DD2 is born and was suggested a leapad.

Would it just be like a step down from what she already has?

I think it's quite good. The games are all educational and you can put Interactive audio books and videos on there. My dd loves making videos.

The advantage is that it's sturdy so you don't have to worry about them breaking it. My dd is 6 and she likes hers more than the ipad.

What apps have you got curious? Just got an IPad and my little boy is 3 in March, so far big brother dominating it with angry birds!

Zoo Train, phone for kids, any flashcard app, endless ABC and then a Peppa pig cooking one and a Ben and holly game. They're really good.

We have one of each and my dd age 2 1/2 enjoys both - they're quite different, and one is daddy's iPad and the other hers - the iPad is easier to use than the leapad I reckon! Good to have one that is tougher for her to own, but we haven't got many apps yet , and think it comes below iPhones and iPads in her top toys list....

Elizbake, have a look for anything by Toca Boca. DGS is 3 and a half, has been playing with my iPad for 18 months or so, and loves them. Also ZooTrain as mentioned, Thomas Tank apps, DoodleBuddy keeps getting better... Curiousgeorgie, I haven't seen the Leappad but have seen various threads where folk have been disappointed with it, so can't help but feel it'd be a let-down after the iPad.

Bugs and numbers is my 3yo's fave. And grandmas garden (but she's one annoying granny!!)
