it occured to me today that while DD (now 3) is happily scoffing prawn sandwiches and has been eating them for a year or so with no ill effects thatI have no idea if she should be eating them.
also wondering when it would be appropriate to let any mindees have some ( today mindee is asleep so hasn't seen them and we don't have it as an issue) but can anyone tell me?

Not sure. DD was eating them before she was 2, and the HV at her two year check was happy about this, and commented on her having such a good varied diet.

my dd is 2.8 and has eaten prawns for a fair while as well, i think after 2yo. i've always been paranoid about stuff like that so i must have read somewhere that it's ok after 2yo! lol

NHS Direct site just says no fish or shellfish before 6 months. Bupa says to avoid shellfish, if history of allergies, until 6-8 months. Have found another site that says no shellfish until 12 months regardless though. Another says introduce between 9-14 months.

So, the answer is there doesn't appear to be a definitive answer!

Hmm mindees are 18mths and 17mths I think i'll hold off a while then - or ask mums if they have already tried them.
