Naps during the day- help

Some advise needed. My DS is now nearly 6m. He has always been good at napping during the day, pretty much from day one. He gets up at 7.30am then goes back to sleep for about 45 mins at 9am, then sleeps again about 1ish for a couple of hours. Now however, he will not sleep at 9am and thus is very very grumpy until 1pm when he finally gives up and sleeps.this has been going on for about 10-14 days. Has he just grown out of his morning nap? Or shall I keep battling with him. I'm worried he isn't getting enough sleep during the day. Thank you

Does he only have the two.naps? Seems very little sleep for a 6mo.

Try keeping him active and alert til 10 and put him down then.

At about 6months mine abandoned that 9am nap so we settled for an early lunch and a nap from 12-3. They sometimes would cat nap for 15 mins at 9ish and 5ish but only if we were out and they were either in car seat or sling.

2 naps is perfectly fine at this age but i do think he's a little young for just one. Given he gets up at 7.30am, 9am is def too early now, he'll need to be awake more like 2-2.5hrs before that nap. Id try pushing it later, try 9.30am to start with & if he still wont settle try for 10am.x

So if I put him down at 10 ish, and then 2ish? He goes to bed at 8pm, does that sound sensible? I do wonder how something so small can command so much power?!

We have always let our LO find his own schedule and now he is (at 10 months) on 3 regular naps a day, the first similar timing to yours, then around 2, then around 7, then he sleeps through the night. But he has been through phases...I remember when he was younger Id be out and about with him most of the day but when he was in the house he wouldn't be nearly as ready to nap so would get cranky. The other thing I've noticed is that he hits a growth spurt and needs more food and that sometimes interfered with naps. Maybe try more time out & about and check his diet is not in need of a change and II am sure the phase will pass quite quickly.Smile
