12 day old sleeping

Hi everyone, my DD is 12 days old and I'm a bit worried she sleeps too much (!). Last night for example, she slept from 11pm until 6am. I'm breastfeeding her and she's getting real good feeds. She had been awake for quite a while yesterday evening though, from about 4pm.

When the midwife has called she has said she's perfectly healthy and for me to enjoy her sleeping while it lasts.

Is it possible for a newborn to sleep to much?!

yes. it is . The main thing is if she is feeding enough through the day. As long as she has enough feeds over 24 hours, it is fine for her to have a long sleep at night.
(assuming she wasn't prem)
ds did it form about 5 weeks

Lucky you! (it may not last though...)

Yes it is possible. I agree with midwife enjoy it.

When I was leaving the hospital after my ds the midwife said if he's sleeping leave him. He will wake when he needs fed.

sorry answered backwards I meant yes it is OK! Not yes it is too much!

Thanks for the replies, feeling much better now.

I'm pretty sure she feeds enough throughout the day, it's always on her terms! Sometimes it's 10-15 minutes, sometimes it's close to an hour.

As long as she is putting on weight OK, and continues to do so, it's fine.

If she isn't putting on weight adequately, then you might consider waking her up as middle-of-the-night feeds are good for your milk supply.

All things being equal, though, leave well alone Grin
