Hello there just wondering if anyone can give me any advice. About a year ago my ex took me to court yet again to try regarding custody of our ds in spite of our ds being very upset because he did not want to spend any more time with his father claiming he liked things "exactly as it is"In fact this is what came out in the CAFCASS report
My ex did not get what he wanted in court but the whole process was extremly stressful for both myself and my ds as you can imagine.
My son had a bit of therapy at school after this event and in all seemed fine and balance about the whole thing.
Now about one year later after the events he is complaining of headaches (I don't know if any of these are related) but also has started to wet the bed again nearly every night (He is 10 years old, 11 in September) When I ave asked him if he is worried about anything he tells me he keeps having nightmares some of which he remembers are relating to this stressful period.
I dont know what to do for the best, my son needs some help but he feels very embarrassed.
I would be keen if anyone has any advice to give and has had a child bedwetting through a similar circumstances and what did they do.
I am a nutritional therapist so I am very interested particularly in any holistic means to help my ds.

Thank you!

I'd suggest speaking to your GP, perhaps ask for a referral to your local CAHMS or similiar for some counselling for him. Other than that, try not to be angry or upset when he wets as he could do it more if he's stressed about it.

Make sure his class teacher knows not to pile on any pressure about SATs . They normally start revision now and it may add to his stress.

Poor DS. I wonder if this is the same time of year that all the bother was last year? I would consider finding DS a yoga for kids class so that he can learn relaxation techniques and meditation....to help him order his thoughts.

My friend (US) is a child's yoga teacher and has told me that lots of children come because they've had emotional upsets....divorces...bullying and anxiety and they ALL stay. It's such a magical thing and should imo be offered in all schools.

What did the GP say? Did you get his urine tested? How long has this gone on for? It could be a virus and not linked to nightmares? Is he a very deep sleeper?

My ds2 still has wet nights sometimes and also night terrors. I had night terrors when younger so think it could be linked genetically but not sure? Plus DS2 is a very deep sleeper. Goes to sleep far too late too.

It's really hard on you and them isn't it? I never get upset as I know he can't help it. Luckily it doesn't happen much now.
