Irrational rage at Mums whose babies sleep through

I just don't get it. My first didn't sleep through until she was 10 months. My second is now 14 weeks and nowhere near. She had started doing 5 hour stretches, which I thought was pretty good, but then the past three weeks has only been sleeping for two hours at a time. I

Sorry didn't finish there. I put it down to jabs/growth spurt. Then I get a text from a friend whose 12 week old slept 6:45-7:30am last night?! How? What?!
I do a bedtime routine, make sure she's comfortable and warm, try and get as much milk in her as poss at bedtime (bottle fed).
Are babies just so different?!
Rant over.

Yes babies are that different. My first slept beautifully from 6 weeks. My second was a nightmare and nearly broke me! I started out doing the exact same things with both. They are polar opposites!

Sympathies though.

Yes all babies are different! Do you use a dummy? If you are not against them, you might find that helps settle her quickly if she wakes up during the night. It's frustrating if you know other mums whose babies sleep through, but try not to be too envious - all babies are good / bad at different things. The mum with the baby who sleeps well now might find they are a nightmare with sleep when they are a bit older, or are difficult to potty train, or struggle with weaning, or any one of 101 things that babies all differ at, whereas your dd might be a dream with all those things. For now, coffee or nap during the day if she is your first!

They are all different. My first two slept through from 6 weeks and 7 weeks, my third has been a nightmare, and we are still waking frequently. Only difference is gender. This one is a boy, the other two are girls. All EBF,same father etc. this too will pass!

Also people do not always tell the truth!

Nether of mine slept through. A good friend assured me if the first one doesn't, the second will. She lied!

This friend also reckoned that not sleeping through is a sign of alertness and intelligence. She may have been talking crap again....her heart is in the right place.

Is she in the same room as you? Sometimes just hearing you can relax them a bit.
She just may be having a little grwoth spurt and settle back into longer stretches soon. Hope so.

I feel for you. I can remember feeling so tired I didn't think it would be possible to function at all. But, somehow did vaguely. Smile
