Weaning

Hi,

Quick query - my DD is 28 weeks old and we've started weaning her. She's on pureed veggies and seems to be OK with this although some days she seems like it's too much like hard work! My issue is that since she's started on the purees, she's less keen on her milk but my understanding is that her main nutrition should still be her milk at this time and she should be taking approx. 600ml everyday. At the moment, she isn't managing 600ml and she only takes a few spoonfuls of her puree. If she finishes her food, there's no way she'll drink more than a couple of ounces. I tried milk first, then the food and then try to finish off with the milk but this really doesn't seem to be working. Has anyone have any suggestions or advice based on what worked for them?
Thanks in advance!

I used to offer milk first, then food 1 hour later. As you say, milk is more important at this age

Food is just tastes at the moment - so give less or as pp says, within hour of milk.

Also is she sitting unaided? Can she grab stuff herself? I'd be letting her lead more and hand feed as she's a bit older and will probably take less. So give her the spoon.

Finally maybe she doesn't want all her milk. She might be over a growth spurt. We don't all eat the same every day and neither do babies.
