Travelling, time difference and sleep for a toddler

I posted this on the sleep board but didn't get any replies so thought to try on here...

DS will be 21 months old when we're travelling in four weeks' time. Where we're going they are two hours ahead of the UK. Normally at home DS naps 1-2.30pm or so and BT is 8pm ish, but if I follow this routine on our trip, nap would be 3-4.30pm and BT 10pm.

Does anyone have any word of advise? I was thinking to either a) gradually put DS down for his nap earlier and earlier until it's sometime around 11.30-1 and BT around 7pm (couldn't aim for earlier TBH) or b) just go with the flow once on holiday and hope it all sorts itself once we're back. We're going away for 10 days btw.

Any experiences to share anyone?

My dd is 18mo and we've been to Cyprus and Egypt. You'll prob find your ds will be tired from all the travelling and exciting newness that his bt will roughly be the sameish. We usually follow a pretty good nap and bedtime routine but these are much more relaxed when we go away. Maybe cut his afternoon nap to an hour while your away? Hope you have a great trip!

Hi there and many thanks for your reply! I had thought no one had any thoughts on this one, so hadn't checked in for a while.

That's a good idea with the 1-hour nap while away, might give us a decent bedtime.. I'm also thinking to try the 12 o'clock nap just because that would hopefully mean he'd be sleeping at least part of the time on the outgoing flight. The flight is another thing I'm slightly stressed about, as I'll be travelling alone with him.

Well, I'm sure it'll all be ok in the end. Really looking forward to it though, as we'll be visiting some relatives, who last saw DS when he was 2 months.
