potty training

My just turned 2 year old ds has decided he wants to use the potty. It started off as him stripping off his nappy as a game and as he was doing it for the 'no' reaction we changed tack and told him if he had his nappy off he had to sit on the potty.

I didn't expect anything to come of this but he sat down, concentrated and did a wee. This was a few nights ago. This morning he found the potty, sat on it again, concentrated while looking at his Willyand did a wee.

So every half hour our so I've been asking him if he wants the potty and each time he sits down and almost immediately wees!

What do i do now? I thought i had at least another 6 months before this stage! I have no idea how potty training works/progresses!

My DS potty trained by himself at a couple of months older than this. Can you stay in for a couple of days, leave his bottom clothes and nappy off and leave the potty in an obvious position?

I'd also get him a book, some come with stickers. Get yourself this book and when you are ready to go out let him choose some "big boy pants".

You might want to take a change of clothing with you and buy a portable potty too Smile

Have you read the Mn pages on potty training?

Sometimes kids are ready to potty train before we are. My older boys were between two and two and a half so i expected the same from DS3. When he was about 21 months I left his nappy off as he had a sore bum and half jokingly mentioned he could use the potty, really not expecting anything and he weed in the potty, he was very proud of himself and from that moment on he refused to wear a nappy and within days was completely dry in the day. Best time to PT is when your child wants to - a friend of mine wasn't ready when her son was at 2 so she put him off and then when she was ready he refused and ended up starting school in nappies.

How's it going today dancing?

Been or this morning and at the hospital for a check up this afternoon. He sat on the potty this morning but didn't do anything. Think i will offer him it when he is in the house for now or when he asks and progress from there
