phase or something to worry about?

I'm not sure if I should just pass this off as a phase or be a little concerned. Recently, my 3 yr old daughter has started spitting - not in an angry, temper tantrum way - she almost does it absent mindedly. I noticed her spitting on the floor the other day so told her if she needed to spit, please do it in the sink or a tissue. Perfectly happy with my suggestion she took herself off to the sink about 5 times within half an hour. She now doesnt bother with the sink & just wipes it away on her sleeve. It's not even an attention thing - I just put her to bed & she was still doing it half asleep. Has anyone else experienced this?

Take her to the GP to check she's not got a problem with her saliva glands. She might be over producing saliva....or it could be a habit. Does she dribble at all? How is her speech?

I'd say it is just a phase. My ds went through a phase, I told him to stop that it was disgusting and it stopped.
