DS (who is DC3) is 2.5 plays with 1 thing and 1 thing only - cars

He has a toy garage, but it's rarely used. He is simply v v content to drive his many, many cars around the floor and furniture

It's gorge to watch but I wonder if I should try and get him into other stuff . He very occasionally does other things but it's short lived

My DDs weren't like this IIRC. Funny how different they can be

My 2.5yo plays mostly with figures/vehicle playsets eg happyland, postman pat, fireman sam & bob the builder & is really into his train set at mo too
he also loves doing puzzles & anything role play eg cooking, doctors, playing with his tool kit or dressing up.

I say if your ds is happy with his cars & will play happily on his own, dont worry! My ds still needs a lot of input from us & i long for the day he'll happily play by himself!

I have a just 3yo. I wish he would play with something for hours on end!
The things he likes are not typical 'toy' things. He loves crafts, anything to do with letters and numbers, puzzles and duplo. He is very much a creator!

Interesting

Might try broadening his horizons a bit Blush

Sorry, I didn't mean it like that! The point I was trying to make(badly) was that they are all into different things, it is so lovely to see their personalities and likes and dislikes developing. It's totally normal for them to really like one thing and return to it again and again, let him play Grin

Wasn't offended or anything, honest Smile

I do love that he can entertain himself for ages. He's really into his play, it's lovely to observe

I just remember my other 2 being into art and craft stuff, role play etc at this age ( though I guess pretending to be a car all say is role play, in a way) Grin
