It's not really possible for a 9 month old to 'not have enough food' as milk (breast or formula) should still be the main source of nutrition until 12 months old. Give milk one hour before a meal and give rice/pasta/potatoes in the same proportion as you would your own meals (e.g. Three fifths veg and starchy carbs, two fifths protein or thereabouts).

Good advice already from Elpha . Agree its import to bf or offer the formula an hour before having solids. If Lo is ff, they should be having 20floz of first stage formula per say until they are one. Once they are one you can switch to full fat cows milk and its 300 ml a day between 12 and 24 months and milk can be offered after food.

You might also want to post in the weaning section, you might get a few more responses.

If you are worried Lo isn't eating enough, like Elpha says though, milk sound be the main food, would you like to tell us what a typical day is like?
