Hello all-

Has anybody experienced having a four month old that wakes up screeching several times in the night?

I use the term screeching because its an unholy noise- he's abandoned his usual cry lately for this insistent screech that makes you panic- but you get to him and there's nothing wrong?!!

I landed up swaddling last night which did the job. I do t understand. Have I spoilt him somehow or is this a phase? I thought he'd be sleeping through a bit by now.

There's not really anything you can do. Google 'four month sleep regression' and you may be (un)pleasantly surprised.

PS There is no 'normal' age to sleep through. Some babies/children don't do it until they're over two, unfortunately.

Elphamake that 5, sorry OP.

Agree it sounds very much like the 4 month sleep regression and totally normal and absolutely nothing to do with anything you may have done.

As suggested above google 4 month sleep regression but also google askdrsears 31 ways to get your baby to sleep. You might also like the book Sound Sleep by Sarah Woodhouse.

Unfortunately half of all babies still wake at 12 months no matter how you feed them or parent and waking at night is normal.
