16-month-old walking, started running...but can't push to stand.

My sixteen-month-old DS started walking two weeks ago and today started to run a few steps. He can pull himself up on furniture but cannot push to stand independently. Is this an unusual pattern of development or normal? (He was a bum shuffler, so I'm guessing it isn't instinctive to go forward onto his hands.)

DD was the same took a few weeks after being able to walk well to be able to stand without something nearby to help her - she only learnt to crawl 2 weeks before, never bum shuffled though was pretty immobile before walking.

I thought that might be the case. Thanks for your input!
