Just give water every time he asks and if he throws a tantrum [or the cup] just try to distarct or ignore.I would limit juice to once a day at most.It is very sugary and bad for his teeth. He needs milk and he needs water and that's all I would offer until he forgets the juice.

Is he thirsty? Or just playing up? Might be worth checking for diabetes.

Ignore-nothing but water-honestly it will work.
Leave a couple os sippy cups of water where he can reach them without asking. Talk to yourself while you do it,"I will just put this water here,ds wont drink it."
Pound to a penny he will Xmas Grin

Yes, definitely try the telling him not to drink it trick. "OK ds, this is water in this cup and it is very important that you don't drink it. Definitely don't drink it. If you drink it I will have to cry. Oh no, you drank it. WAAAAAAAHHHHHH! Ok, just don't drink any more" etc. Works every time. Kids think it's hilarious. There have been whole years when this is the only way I've got any of my dcs to do anything.

Please have him checked for diabetes: www.diabetes.org.uk/Get_involved/Campaigning/4Ts-campaign/?print=2

I agree with OxyMoron - I would take him to the Dr

Check with doctor for any medical problems. Sounds unlikely if he refuses water, but better safe than sorry. If there's no problem, remember YOU'RE THE BOSS. Give him water, if he throws it, don't respond, pick it up and put it on the side. Ignore his tantrum. When he keeps shouting juice, just give him the water. I find when I need to be strong it helps to have a set plan for myself. Write it down and stick it on the wall (near the juice!) so when you're despairing and going to cave in, you can remember why you're doing it and how to do it. He will get bored before you. Get a friend who can you can call when you're struggling.. Good luck. X
