I'm struggling to like them at the moment and wondering if it's just normal high spiritedness or maybe I'm getting something wrong.

I've got two boys, 4 and 6, and they're just so bloody hyper. Just took them to the cinema and then home for lunch. Would love to just relax for half an hour whilst they play Lego/drawing/cars or something, but they rarely do. They'll be running about like crazy, jumping about and being mean to each other. I just want nice, quiet dc that actually give a damn about what I say.

When we have visitors, mainly just family, they're just as bad, can barely have a conversation. Just asked ds1 why that is and he basically said cos he wants attention.

Just tired and fed up. It's so relentless.

Yes perfectly normal Smile mine are 12 and 16 and still behave like this.

Oh know, that's not what I wanted to hear! How do you not become a miserable cow with them? I end up cross and moody, then feel guilty for not being more of a positive mum

I lock myself in my bedroom and put my ipod on with a glass of Wine Grin

Normal for boys, oh yes!

That's why, even when it is freezing cold/snowing/raining, you'll still see mums of boys standing in a park while their little darlings tear around after a ball/climbing trees, etc! IMO, boys generally need to burn off more energy than girls, they just seem to be more physical and need more exercising to wear them out. Sorry, not that helpful, but just wanted to reassure you that it's perfectly normal in my experience

It is hard with boys - they generally don't like sitting quietly and playing. My 5 year old and his friends love it when I tip a bag of cheap flour over the kitchen table and put their animals/ cars/ soldiers & tanks on it. They spend ages playing with it. Ok it's a right mess to clean them and the kitchen after it but it's well worth it x x
