Hi Madellie, my ds is 14 month and he seems to only take about 5min (both nap and bedtime) to fall asleep. i put him in his cot, put his sleeping bag on and close the door. sometimes he cries for about 2 min then falls asleep but never takes long. his brother who is now 3 seemed to take longer and i remember him playing in his bed before he'd fall asleep so i think it depends on the child

I find it really varies - mostly based on whether we've hit the "sweet spot" when he is just tired but not overtired. in that case, we can put him down and he'll fall asleep in a few seconds. if he's overtired, he'll scream and cry and need to be patted or shushed or rocked or some other trick, and it could take 10-15 minutes or more. if he's not yet tired, he'll be chatty and want to look around, and we may have to just get up and do something else until he's ready.
