DS making himself sick

DS is 16 months, and for the last few weeks has been putting his hand in his mouth so he gags and vomits whenever he's in a situation he doesn't like, for example in the carseat or during dinner (he's always been a reluctant eater).

I hope this is just a phase and am trying to ignore it but as an emetophobe I'm finding it difficult :( just wondering if anyone can suggest anything?

Can see why you are having a problem with it then! You are doing the right thing completely. Stay calm, ignore and carry on with what you were doing. If you need to clean him up, again just keep calm and chat about something else but don't let him get out of doing the thing he doesn't like Smile

If he is a reluctant eater, the book My Child Won't Eat is supposed to be very good.

I've read my child won't eat :) I'm not too worried about his diet now, although its limited it is vaguely balanced and he's growing/developing. I'll carry on ignoring and hoping for the best :)

He's exploring the sensations involved in making himself vomit at the moment. As long as you continue not making an issue of it he will soon get bored and move onto something else.

Not nice having to keep clearing it up though!
