How to tell her

My parents have recently got divorced (still not told dd) and it turns out my dad is selling the house and movingback to Burnley (miles away from here) and my mum is moving to their villa in spain how and what on earth should i say to my dd? shes 6 by the way and its unlikely she will ever see Granny again one of my friends said i should tell her shes gone to heaven which i was appauled by!!! but im really stuck now shes only 5 and dont know how shes going to take the news :(

Is she 5 or 6? I don't understand. Also, why will she never see Granny again? Is Granny your mum? More info please!

Yes granny my mum meant to say shes nearly 6 so is 5 she wont see her sgain as shes moving to spain andshe dosnt like flying

But, long term, wouldn't you be able to go and visit her? Or wouldn't she fly to see her granddaughter and daughter, even if she doesn't like it- or travel by road and boat if it's a real phobia? Just seems a bit odd that you say never again?

I'd say stick to really simple facts. Don't have to go into the intricacies of divorce. I'd say just tell her that grandad and granny are moving away and try to answer any questions she has simply and factually.

They could see each other by skype or just through pictures and other contact. I don't think you need to tell her she'll never see her again. Mightn't your DD change her mind about flying sometime? And your DM change her mind about never returning?

Never just seems a bit premature right now.

I plan to tell her this evening will tell her you need to be a big girl and go ojn the plane x
