Calling July/Aug 2002 sprogs - is mine the only one not walking?????

20 months and just walks round furniture, WILL NOT walk unless I hold both hands and then only for 2 steps.

Surely this is not normal, I am going to HV next week i think for a checkup and wanted some research beforehand.

I do not have an obsession AT ALL, oh no siree.

Just asking. Ahem.

my dd is 18 months and just the same. Doctor said he expected her to walk at 2 years, so am relaxing now!

My SILs SILs little girl took ages to start walking. She went to the docs on numerous occasions about it. They kept sending her away and saying that she's not yet 2. Kids are expected to walk by 2. So, don't worry and enjoy the fact that you're saving shoe money!

One of my neighbours has a wee girl the same age who isnt walking - she bum shuffles and will only take one or two steps with held hands - she is otherwise advanced - good speech etc. I think it is quite common but no harm in seeing HV.

I know a little boy the same age who isn't walking yet, he just bumshuffles.

he's been seen numerous times by various doctors.. they said he has a slightly weak ankle on one side but that he'll walk in his own time.

they did say to her that he should be in barefeet all the time at home, no socks, nothing... and he has now started pulling himself up on furniture

yes oliveoil; i was a bit concerned cos she was not able to run around at her nursery or do some of the activities. The doctor didn't mind seeing her at all. First they suggested mild hypotonia (low muscle tone), but now they have dropped that and just say she will walk by 2 and be indistinguishable from other children by 5. (not sure what is supposed to happen between 2 and 5!)

Since my DD has started crawling, everytime I picked her up from nursery, they have taken her socks off... I asked them why and they told me that i should leave her bare foot indoors until she starts walking... So maybe try it if you haven't yet O.O. I wouldn't worry too much as babies seem to be progressing so differently

Hi Oliveoil my ds walked at 22 months, we were out at my niece's first birthday, and all of a sudden he was walking around her front room.

I could'nt believe it, i was alway's worrying hey but like everybody say's, when they start they don't stop. So make the most of it.

My eldest daughter did not walk independently until she was 21 months. Her speech was very good and she good talk like a 3 year old at that age. One day she said she wanted shoes like shaun ( my friends son). I said you can have shoes when you walk. The next day she just got up off of her litle chair and walked acros the room. She didn't bother with todling it just seemed as if she was waiting until she could do it properly. By the age of 3 she was walking up mointains! She was a bum shuffler and didn't actually crawl untill she was 18 months!
