DS is 11 months old and STILL not crawling... Do I need to worry?

Title says it all really. DS2 is a chatty babbley baby. He sits unaided, claps when we say 'clap clap' to him, he smiles, laughs, waves. He rolled at 4 months on to his tummy and rolled from his tummy onto his back at 6 months. Since then he has just rolled everywhere. He can get from one room to another purely by rolling and slithering about but is really no closer to crawling than he was at 6 months! He occassionally will lay on his tummy and lift his bum right up as if he wants to crawl but then flops and reverts to rolling again :-S. I took him to the health visitor to see what they suggest and they checked his hips, legs etc and said not to worry til after his 1st birthday and then they will refer him for further checks or scans if needed. I am worried. I know I shouldn't compare but DS1 was walking at 11 months whilst DS2 makes no effort to pull up or stand even though he can weigh bare. Do I need to worry?

I wouldn't worry - ds didn't even roll from place to place, then a week before he was 1 he upped and crawled at high speed, then walked a few weeks later

No...... as you wereGrin

Seriously though, no you dont. Ive had 3. All different. One never crawled and walked at 10 months, one crawled at 11 months walked 2 weeks later, my ds ( lazy bugger ) sat about on his bum till about 13 months and has only just decided to walk at 15 months. Still doesnt say a word though !
They really are all different.
I bet in a months time things will be so different.

All babies are different, mine both slept through the night at 4 weeks and 5 weeks....rare i know but it made other mums worry when theirs were still waking at 4 months. It's the same with crawling and walking. It sounds like your little one is getting around perfectly fine by rolling so why would he want to crawl? You've had him looked at and you said yourself that he isn't floppy and can bare his weight so stop worrying and enjoy him. My brother never crawled at all but was perfectly happy to shuffle along on his bottom. He walked at about 18 months.

Thank you to you both. I have kept thinking by next month it'll all be different but it's just not! I will try and relax and let him get on with rolling but it's just so hard. I must stop comparing but DS1 was just so mobile by now, cruising, sitting up from laying down, crawling and walking unaided 2 weeks before his 1st birthday and with DS2 he just seems so much more of a 'baby' if that makes sense! He is interested in the world and gets frustrated like any other baby but seems to make no effort to get off his bum and do something about it! If he was happy and chilled out I probably would just sit back and try to enjoy it but he's just as crabby as DS1 was before he got independant but is just so much further away from where he was at this age! Ahhh I will try and not worry too much. You are of course right, they are all sooooo different. Thank you.

Yes Ronby, he's deffinitely NOT floppy! He's very strong and sits well, arches and wriggles to be put down when I try to restrain him Grin . He's lovely really but maybe a bit lazy... or just uncoordinated like me perhaps!

Some babies, like my first, never crawl. They find another way of getting around that works for them, then go straight to walking. So don't panic.
