Is DS lying???

When we went to pick up DS(3.5) from nursery yesterday, I asked one of the nursery girls whether the children got out to play in the garden. "Oh yes" she said. Later when I asked DS if he'd played in the garden he said no. When I asked him if he was sure he said he didn't go because the ladies at nursery "didn't let me". He even implied that another little boy had also not been allowed out. With a bit more probing he then said he did go out and the children had to go out in twos holding hands.
So who do we believe? Is he lying, confused or is it his imagination? Should I check with the nursery because if he was denied outdoor play I'd want to know why?
Sorry this is long-winded.

is it possible that half the group goes out while the other half stay in and then they swap? so he wasnt allowed to go out the whole time and the little boy he was holding hands with couldnt go out either because it wasnt their turn? ds2s nursery used to split the group as there werent enough bikes for them all to use at once

i would just ask nursery what they do and say you want to make sure ds understands cos he was confused and got a bit upset

Hadn't thought of that. I think I'll give them a ring.

gigglinggoblin you were spot on! Just called the nursery and they said they split them because of the ratios and he went out in the second group.
Thanks
