Late walkers

DS2 is 18 months next week. He is still not walking. He has recently started to be able to use his push along walker which he walks with a very strange almost straight legged walk. He has been consistently late with all his developmental milestones and is a very big boy (on 99th centile for height and weight ) he just doesn't seem to have any balence to be able to walk and a really isn't that keen on trying. He has never liked weight bearing on his legs even when sma he would just crumple if you held him up . Health visitor is a little stumped and is now saying she wants a referral done for him.
Does anyone have any advice or had a late walker themselves ? Or am I destined to have no back left by carrying my lump everywhere for the foreseeable

Hi - my DD was 18 months before she walked. I took her to a chiropractor specialising in developmental delay in children when she was about 16 months, and he did a range of exercises with her which got her going, problem is I'll never really know whether she would have just done it on her own in any case!! Anyway, the main tip he gave me was to make her do as much as possible by herself, so we had to bin the push-along walker, put her down on her back instead of sitting, so she had to get herself up, strengthening core muscles etc. He said it is far better for them to crawl/knee walk/whatever free movement than to walk with a prop. I'm not sure whether any of this is helpful, just wanted to share our experience. She was 2 yesterday, and is unstoppable!

Hello, I know this is a old post, my 19 month old is currently going through the same thing she still doesn’t walk, she does crawl. Her legs go from very wobbly/bendy to very straight and stiff.

Did your son end up walking and what age? Thanks.
