Struggling to get toddler dressed / nappy changes

My DS 20m won't keep still and wants to play constantly. Distraction only works for 5seconds. I have to wrestle with him to get him dressed and pin him down to change his nappy. Is this normal??? Incidentally he behaves impeccably and is an angel when the nanny is watching him, and a right handful when he's with me. I'm starting to think that she's a better parent than I am!! :(

Normal for me! I have found a) having a special toy(s) only allowed at nappy change and b) putting teddy in a nappy/clothes c)making lots of silly noises and "where's your arm/hand/feet/head etc etc" helpful, if not conistently.

BLowing raspberries on tum tums just does not cut it any more!

Car keys and mobile are good. Lots of distraction equipment. It's a bloody nightmare but it does pass.

I also used to sing "i am stronger than you are" in a bright and happy voice to keep myself sane whilst pinning him down.

They always play up for their parents, its the law.
