I want to strangle someone!!

My 20 month old has somehow managed to send an email that I wasn't finished typing and checking for errors....for a job I was applying for of all things. I just left the laptop for a minute to grab my phone that was ringing. WHAT do I do??????????? Would it be a ridiculous idea to write another explaining what's happened or should I just forget it and cut my loss.

I am so angry I don't know what to do with myself.

Advice?

I would explain in a short and professional message attached to the completed application ASAP.

If it would take too long to finish the application before sending an email explaining the error, I would call or email and explain the situation simply, so they know they will be receiving a revised copy of your application.

agree with above, clarify situation asap.

let's hope the person receiving unfinished email has kids or at least a sense of humour! come on it's quite funny from outside! if they can't laugh and forgive you I wouldn't want to work for them anyway!

I'd be worried they might employ him/her, clearly blessed with a knack to use a laptop!

I have taken your advice and sent a message explaining, with the finished, edited version of my application. Let's hope I haven't ruined my chances

Oh dear! I can totally imagine 21 mo DD doing this! I often wonder exactly how much damage could she do left alone with an iPhone for half an hour, given the chance.

If your potential employers don't have a sense of humour about this then sod 'em! I think it shows your human side anyway. Most companies love that. Good luck!

Just in case anyone was wondering....I haven't heard back from them...it's been 5 days. It's early, but I'm afraid that in a normal situation, I would be giving them a rind next week to see if they wanted any more info etc, but I really don't think I have the guts to do it for this one.

Hi bored, I was thinking about this thread the other day as I ended up in a similar situation.

I was applying for a job and my DD kept hitting buttons on my computer and messing up my application. Not a big deal but it reminded me of your story.

Ah that's a shame. You have nothing to lose though by sending an email/letter once again setting out the facts. You can also say in it you would appreciate feedback as to why you weren't shotlisted (if that was the case)
