Too much fiddling...?

My DS who is 3 continues to play with his John Thomas all the time. This wouldn't be much of a problem as I am aware that little boys play with their willies. It just that he's enjoying it a little too much. Without going into too much graphic detail... he does become aroused by it...? Is this normal for a 3 year old?? If not, help! lol. He's 3 turning into a teenager already. Any reassurance would be appreciated :)

Absolutely, completely, 100% normal. And not in the least bit sexual - it just feels nice to him. My ds2 (4) humps cushions (and occasionally people ) in the manner of one of those horrid little dogs - now that's embarrassing.

I have always gone down the route of distraction - or, if that doesn't work, saying "no, we don't do that - Daddy/Grandad/Uncle So n' So don't do that with their willies, do they?" Ds2 does it far less often than he used to so hopefully your little boy will grow out of it too.

Fwiw, my Mum was actually lectured to about this very subject when she trained to be a primary school teacher - and they were advised that distraction was the best option - "give them something else to do with their hands". Mum said the worst time was story time, at the end of the day, when they were tired and - particularly in summer when they wore shorts (easy access) - she said she'd sometimes glance up from the book she was reading to see several little boys all busily fiddling away

My ds1 does it when we read books in my bed at night but no arousal
I just tell him he can do it in his own room but not when we are reading

my Ds used to stretch his in front of my friends, and say "look how long i can make it!"
He is 13 now and doesnt do it anymore! ( not in public anyway!!)
Its normal i would try and ignore it when possible.

Oh thankyou! lol SL i have to say i was reading ds1 (5.5) and ds2 a story the other night and when i looked up they were both sat there happily fiddling away! i do tend to say "can you both not do that while im here please, thats for when you are in private on your own" - maybe right possibly wrong i dont know, but ds2 is getting more and more interested in what his willy does when he plays with it and shouts loudly 'look a BIG one' especially when people are round he evens 'shows' one of my friends all the time, she is doing her best to be polite and laugh about it but its especially bad with her as there is NO distracting him at all and he is very persistant!! bless him he tells her how much fun it is and he loves it 'alot' i think i may have to come up with some strategy to attract him to something else!
