Wow. Separation Anxiety?

My DD, 8.5 months, has gone from being a happy chirpy baby into a shrieking ball of fury. Put her down? Shrieks? Nap time? Shrieks. Bed time? HOWLS of outrage until she makes herself sick.

The only thing that quietens her is to pop her in a sling but obviously I need to bathe, sleep and so does she.

Normal?

I think there's supposed to be a big developmental spurt (wonder week) at 37 weeks, with a fussy period prior to it.
So yes, normal I guess. Hope it doesn't last too long!

It might also be frustration - can she move around yet? They often freak out about being put down at this age because they're immobile and they don't want to be! But the yelling at naptime is likely to be separation anxiety, yes.

She's just beginning to realise that you can disappear but she's not old enough to realise that you as still close by and will come back. Once she becomes aware enough to understand than 'gone' isn't necessarily 'gone forever' she'll calm down. It will also get better when she can crawl after you and go away from you herself.

It won't last long Smile
