I would like my one year to stop his dummy as he wakes up during the night whimpering for it what the best way to start taking it away?

I took my DS's dummy away & he went cold turkey! My DS is 2 yrs & i wish i had done it sooner. but he teethed so badly & i guess it was more to help me deal with his upset & it was a great comforter for him. EEEKKK! He has done so well. But I would advise maybe taking it away during the day & for daytime naps yet still giving it at night time for a few nights (or til you feel you are both ready to remove it completely).
Good luck
