Really heavy wetters - what on earth do you use at night?

dd2 (2 yesterday) has always been a heavy wetter. It's getting worse now and she's thoroughly soaked each morning. She is in a bigger sized nappy than she really needs for fit. We can't go bigger as they wouldn't fit, and she'd leak out of the leg holes. We are using disposables at the moment, but I would be prepared to look at reusuables just for night time if I can be convinced they are the answer.

Just bumping really, I have no answers, but DS is the same. He's 16 months and seems to wet through his nappy every night. I tried a reusable but it was much worse....

dd2 has mild eczema, and it's getting worse since she's been leaking so much. I might have to bite the bullet and start waking her for a clean nappy at 9ish, which I really don't want to do as she doesn't settle well.

My DS is the same. He's 3 now and dry in the day but he's showing no signs of weeing less in the night. What brand of nappies do you use? I have tried other brands but the one that leaks the least is pampers. I recently tried some Morrisons ones that fit him really well but him and the bed was drenched every night. I considered reusables but same as you, i didn't know whetehr it would make a difference and i am hoping that he going to start weeing in the night pretty soon!!

No idea if this would work but how about a bamboo booster from a cloth nappy in disposable nappy wrapped in a breathable wrap.

tonight we have switched from huggies to tesco
will try anything TBH - any spares can get used by day

We had the same problem. What helped us was popping a breathable wrap (we used motherease) over the top of DS's disposable. We use cloth nappies in the day but in my experience they don't make it through the night, as if they get wet they tend to 'wick' especially if they're lying in one position for a long time. HTH

hodgiebreeder a wool wrap for example? Sounds interesting. We're having the same probs with dd who is 19 months.

The wraps we used were essentially like rubber knickers but breathable. Google motherease and you'll see (sorry can't link for you a am on my phone). When things were really bad we also boosted the nighttime nappy with a bamboo booster pad. I'm sure a terry towelling one would do too. HTH

Sainsbury's size 6 with a maxi nighttime sanitary towel stuck inside. Then a hemp/microfibre 'superbooster'* (from The Nappy Lady) wrapped around the waist (where DS leaks) and safety pinned in place. Then a wool wrap over the top. DS is 2.10 y.o. and too big for Motherease wraps, but the Airflow ones are very good.

We found reusables great at night (used Motherease or LIttle Lamb nappies with extra boosters) but recently they've aggravated DS's sensitive skin.

• Depending on which size you buy, they will hold 300ml or 600ml of liquid.

luckily, the tesco nappies have been an improvement on pampers and huggies

we're also slightly reducing drinks from 5pm - basically she still gets a drink when she asks, but we are only half-filling the cups, so she's not drinking the excess just because it's there, IYSWIM

the combination of the two is working for now, but we will definitely look at boosters/wraps if things change

I used to use a nappy with a tena pad inside - it meant I could change the tena pad before I went to bed without disturbing DS!
