How do you teach a toddler what a wee is?

18 month old DD has started to tell me that she's done a poo in her nappy. She just says "poo poo". I think she's learnt this because I've always said "oh you've got a poo poo in your nappy" or "are you doing a poo poo?" if I see the signs. But how do you teach a wee? If I see her do a little shiver I say "have you done a wee wee?"
I didn't intend on potty training until she was about 2/ 2 and a bit but would like to help her learn and if she seems ready earlier then I'll give it a go.
Any advice would be great, thanks.

Take her to the loo with you when you go, and talk about it there?

FWIW my DD could tell me she was doing/about to do a poo at roughly that age, but didn't toilet train until she was 3 years and 1 week old.

Thanks Strawberrie, I don't think she's anywhere near ready for toilet training, just don't want to hold her back in a few months if she thinks she is (if that makes any sense?!?)

I have taken her to the toilet with me and she's started saying "dirty" if I sit on the toilet (probably because I've said it to her if she goes to touch it while she's investigating the bathroom). I'll just keep trying to explain and hopefully she'll pick it up.

I have a 22 mo and although it's slightly different as he's a boy, what ive done is let him run round he bathroom naked while I run his bath. When he wees he looks at interested and I say oh look! Wee wee! From your dinkle!

After a while he knows this, we now say he needs to have a nappy onto catch the wee wees from his dinkle

He knows mummy does them in the loo too. From here I guess I'll go to offering him the chance to wee in the loo of he wants (I have no expectation of this happening for a long time though)

naked seems to be the key! I'll give it a go.

Something that might work is sitting her on a potty just before bathtime, with no expectations - nothing might happen, but it gets her used to what a potty is, and if she does wee in the potty you can say "Yay! You did a wee!". It takes the pressure off a bit and might help.

Take the nappy off and let her see/feel what it's like to wee.

Try a drink and wet doll, cheap oine with potty in elc.
