Help - my baby is chewing his fingers til they bleed

hi,

my five month old ds is chewing his thumb and fore finger til they bleed - does any one have any advice to help stop this? i am sure he is teething - would a teething ring help??

Definitley worth a shot. He just wants something to relieve the pressure on his gums.

And teething powders and try keeping a metal teaspoon in the fridge and give him that to chew on every so often.

Also frozen raw carrot

And if he has a dummy squeeze it in water and fill it up then freeze it.

Any chance you could get some mittens on him til it heals, or he will keep worrying at it

My ds used to do this. I tried to put dressings/elastoplast/mittens on his thumb at night but he managed to chew them off. Eventually, I dressed his thumb, elastoplast etc. then got one of his knee length socks to cover the dressing and his hand, and taped it with micropore at his elbow. I did this every night when he was teething, eventually he did stop chewing.
