"Ds, pick the raisins up that you sprinkled on the floor please"

"Why?"

"because they'll get trodden on and make the floor sticky"

"Why?"

"because they're are small and difficult to see"

"Why?"

Arrrrgh.

But is that better or worse than Why Stage Two?
As in "Why is water wet?' 'Why is the sky blue?' etc etc

tissy · 22/03/2006 15:45

to dd after asking/ telling her to do something for the hundredth time:

"dd are you listening to me?"

her: "no"

sandyballs · 22/03/2006 16:05

God, I sympathise, it does get worse though.
This morning when we're in a mad mad rush to get the house and DD is sitting staring into space with one sock on and one arm in her shirt.

"mummy, how many noughts in a million"
"mummy, what comes after a million"
"mummy, can you count to a million"
"mummy, what is infinity?"
"mummy, is infinty the highest number ever".

etc etc etc Grin.

Nice to know she has a thirst for knowledge but very very wearing and I find it hard to stay patient.

I remember when DS was a tiny baby DH saying "I can't wait till the stage when he starts asking why". DS is now 3 and therefore I frequently remind DH of how he was looking forward to this!

canadianmum · 22/03/2006 18:44

What about:

Completely out of the blue.....

"Mummy, why do you like the red truck?"
"I didn't say I liked the red truck love"
"Why don't you like it Mum?"
"Darling I have no opinion about the red truck."
"Mummy, what is an onipinion?"

repeat 4000 times per day...............:)

Enid · 22/03/2006 18:46

"listen mummy I can count to 400, 1...2..3...123...124...125, hold on, no wait, 1...2...3..."

it is like chinese water torture

canadianmum · 22/03/2006 18:49

OMG Enid, please tell me I do not have THAT to look forward to....................aaaaaaaaah!

fransmom · 22/03/2006 21:01

Angeliz · 22/03/2006 21:12

PMSL!!

I remember it well, now it's the cheek that gets me,
The other day i was having a 'debate' about something or other with dd aged 5 and she said, "Are we going to argue about this or are you just going to leave it?"
Was too Gobsmacked to be angry.

fransmom · 22/03/2006 21:26

Shock Grin
i said on another thread that when in mcare fri last, i had to give dd my mobie when changing her nappy to keep her occupied. when i asked her to give it back to me, which she has learned Grin she went to hand it back then started shaking her head, grinning and took it back away from me! she's only 10 months - i'm in trouble aaaagggghhhhhh Grin

fransmom · 22/03/2006 21:29

Mazzystar · 22/03/2006 21:31

its better than "MINE!"

which is what ds has taken to screeching as he tanks about the house waving a fishslice. he is only 17 mo so I guess that i have the why?s to come.

stoppinattwo · 23/03/2006 06:10

Last sunday my DS DD and I went to a very good friend of mine for sunday lunch. Quite a stressful lunch to prepare for her, she's not the keenest of cooks, DS stands in the kitchen and says Why isnt your kitchen as big as our? Then at lunch, why dont your dinners taste as nice a mum's, are you just practicing! (aaaarrrggghhhhh). Kids pick their moments.

DS asked me why I drank wine if it made me feel so bad? - good question.

They seem to see things so clearly and simply. and if youve got to about the tenth why in a string of questions i usually tell him "because thats why" and he knows he's reached the end of question time!!
