2 year old bullying others

My 2yo DS is becoming a bully. He shouts at other kids, enjoys scaring them, and is now pushing and kicking. He has an older brother who is sometimes a bit mean to him, but not that much of the time.

How do I stop this? Is it a phase? Being firm does not seem to be helping so I am now trying another tack and saying how nice the other kids are. (He laughs at the naughty step).

i think you have to keep being creative. the naughty step worked really well for us at first but now it doesn't seem to bother ds at all. we constantly have to come with new and inventive punishments and incentives (the sticker novelty wore off too so now we're onto gold stars for good behaviour).

you could also try some major distractions then praise the good behaviour ...

i didn't see this at the time, sorry, but i have posted loads lately worrying about my 2.10 dd being a bully.

she has just started pushing and shoving others - and i don't know why. i presume she has seen it at pre-school, but it is driving me mad. I am dreading her being a bully.

I am torn between needing to tell her off, but not giving her too much atention for this negative behaviour and ignoring it as maybe i'm drawing attention to it.

telling her off is fine if i'm there. but what if i hear about it when i collect her from pre school?

as people keep saying to me - a toddler being a bit aggressive/testing boundatries does not necessarily equal a bully later (i am just scared it does), i guess we just need to keep sending a consistant message!!
