21 mo old getting to me

Just took 21 mo old out for a walk as we have been housebound for a few days and thought it would be nice to get some fresh air
He held my hand and walked lovely expert when he wanted to go in to someone's garden, run out on the round, go the wrong way then when I say 'come on this way'
He throws a strop and sits down on the middle of the pavement
I then go over and try and get him to stand up and he won't so I pick him up and he starts screaming blue murder
So frustrating and makes me wonder why I bother doing nice things
How do I deal with this? When he just sits on the floor and won't move!

Very frustrated mummy ??

Should say he has done this more than just today but today has been the final straw Sad

I have a book in my bag and when my 20 month old refuses to move/ throws a tantrum, I sit next/near him reading my book until he stops and is willing to behave. Can take a while but it works!

I remember when ds1 was about this age and a boy down the road the same age would be walking beautifully with his mum all the time. It just took a lot of practice for mine! I had a baby by this age so always had a double buggy, so if he didn't walk 'properly' then he got strapped back in.

glad it's not just mine! We get what we call 'baby camel noises' too- google/youtube, he's very convincing Grin.

Mine has also inherited his father's tendency to appear like he's listening but actually isn't....

Have to say he's in his buggy most of the time!
