DD, 12mo, has started biting. DS, 3yo, has never bitten anyone ever and is now on the receiving end of numerous bites from his baby sister which upsets him massively, not her though - she just thinks it's funny.
They play together nicely and then as soon as she's had enough of playing and he gets close enough she bites him. If he annoys her, as all siblings do at times, she bites him. If he is sitting somewhere she wants to be, playing with something she wants to play with, not giving her attention or giving her too much attention, she bites him. This evening alone she has bitten him three times and they're not little nips, they're really hard sharp bites. She has five teeth and makes every tooth count, DS has purple bruises where she's bitten him and one on his back where she clamped on and wouldn't let go, she's actually broken the skin :(
When she's not biting she's a sweetheart, as is DS, and they really do adore each other. This has been going on for the last two weeks at the most so is a fairly new development. Whenever she does it we've been telling her 'no biting' then moving her away from the toys and comforting DS, we show her the bite marks and tell her again that biting isn't allowed. I know she doesn't understand but feel like we need to do something and she really does hate being taken off the floor away from the toys so hopefully she'll make the connection between biting = no toys soon.
Has anyone got any advice they'd like to offer?
