She can speak very well. But lately she is repeated all that I say, and even in my tone, so it's upsetting when I'm having a low/ stressy day and she copies my "stop it", "get down" for example :(

Isn't that just how they learn? It's not malicious.

Flisspaps · 17/09/2012 07:42

She's learning Grin

Makes no difference if you're low, stressed or otherwise. Perfectly normal. DD does it to me, certainly makes me think about what falls out of my mouth - and the way it does too!

NoToastWithoutKnickers · 17/09/2012 07:42

It's just what they do. They learn so much this way (and so do we!)

Turn it into a game and make light of it.

TantrumsandBananas · 17/09/2012 07:44

My DD does it, doesn't bother me. I find it funny. Best way to stop em doing something is blank it, once they realise there is no reaction they will get bored, and move on.

If you are reacting, she WILL keep doing it.

But like [pseudoBadger] says its how they learn - I've been put on the naughty step a couple of times, and we went through the whole routine of me having to say sorry etc etc. To me it shows that she is learning.

Don't read too much into it - and leave google alone!

BabydollsMum · 17/09/2012 07:53

Yep, 19 month DD's just started doing that, including calling DH by his real name and in my tone! Quite disturbing.

Catsdontcare · 17/09/2012 07:55

It's a normal stage Of language development

Littleraysofsunshine · 17/09/2012 09:16

Some of the things are funny! But not when I'm trying to tell her off, he finds it unit and repeats !
