Dd age 5 just started year 1 - worried about her reading !!!

Is anyone else's child struggling with reading ? She has just gone into year 1 when we had her school report she is behind in reading she knows all her alphabet but we just cant seem to crack the blending together to make words. My ds is very bright so you find yourself comparing which I know is wrong.

Don't worry...my DD was like yours and many are at only 5! In some countries they don't bother trying to teach them until they're 6 or so...she will get there....someone will be along with advice on helping her to continue enjoying it all soon..my DD hated reading when she was 5 and now she is 8 she begs to be allowed to read all the time!
