teeth cleaning and stickers or pasta jar

Has anybody tried bribing with stickers or done the pasta jar for teeth cleaning? My ds won't let us clean his teeth anymore, he is still happy to do it himself, but I think we should be brushing them as well. Do you just tell them this is what you get if you let me do it? Would the pasta jar work with a 2.6 child? Would be cheaper than stickers in the long run.....

Would he do it if he had an electric toothbrush? That's what my dentist recommended...
If not, you could try what we do: I pretend I can see a tiger/butterfly/rabbit in his mouth and go searching for it with the toothbrush. Works for us! Although I do have to try several options before ds3 agrees it's the right animal...

Hmmm, this is non negotiable in our house.
If they resist,I just get them in a headlock and do it.
They soon get the message.

i did try pinning him down, but he just keeps his mouth shout. Dp is away, so cannot get him to help. Will persevere.

Would he let you brush his teeth if he could brush yours at the same time? it's quite a funny game!
If not, I'd just leave him to it for a bit (before this becomes a battle for control, rather than for tooth hygience) and then try again in a few weeks.

tried the electic toothbrush tonight, he loooves it, bit worried that it might be a bit harsh for his gums though.
