My 8 yo DS can be incredibly moody - for no apparent reason his mood will go from happy to completely over reacting to miserable - sometimes for no apparent reason. I have tried to talk to him but he says he just doesn't know what makes hime feel like this sometimes. Anyone else out there with similar scenario - is this just an 8yo thing ?? He does fine at school, does lots of sports, stable home.

Yeah, my two DSs that have gone through 8/9 yrs old did this - and then again at 12/13 and then again... Took one of them to the Doc at 9 and he said hormones for puberty may be starting. Some kids are just more emotional than others - and some are melodramatic (I am a teacher!) so I wouldn't worry. Keep calm and carry on! My theory is if Mum is stable and always reacts in the same way, everything will be fine.

You are not alone! Someone other much more wise mums will come along with words of advice for you, but I saw your title and thought - I know that feeling.
I think it might be something to do with hormones 'n' stuff.......

My DS is also having mood swings, and then we noticed the other night that his has some very fine down on his face. I've put it down to hormones. Now I just have to wait until his is 30 and starts maturing Smile.
