What age is it ok to abandon formula milk?

Just wondering... We're currently on aptamil 1+,I know they do 2+ as well, but the question is... Should I really stick to it for that long? My girl is 21 months.

I spoke to a friend who is a dietician, she said that formula is useful to have if, for example, your DC is poorly and not eating, or a particularly fussy eater generally, but not necessary if they are eating a varied and balanced diet.

both mine went on to full fat cows milk at 1 year

I dropped mine at 11 months, got impatient!

Yeah, 12 months. I gave an age appropriate multi-vit and mineral when they were ill or having a fussy phase.

Sorry, unless there are very specific issues, surely these formula milks for >1-year-olds are merely a sneaky way to boost the baby milk brands because there are fewer restrictions. The "benefits" over normal milk are totally spurious, aren't they?

Just before 12 months with both my two. If I felt they needed something extra then some Abidec vitamins.

11months for both of mine, they were both eating well by that point so put them onto cows milk.

One of the only decent things a health visitor told me was that you can mix formula and cows milk if you want (after 12 months). So I weaned DD off formula by replacing an ounce of formula milk with cows milk every few days.
