Hi,

I am a first time Mum and my daughter is now 4 weeks old. I am demand feeding with the bottle but she does not seem to take the whole 4oz. She pushes the bottle out with her tongue. So I don't pursue but rather wait until she requests it again. She can request it within 10 mins or even 2 hours....is this normal?

Also, all of a sudden today she been eating like 1oz every hour or varies to 2oz every hour or even 3oz every hour. Is this normal?

She usually sleeps for most of the day but today it has been really disrupted with feeding and her crying. I've been giving her a dummy and when she rejects it i know that means she hungry.

I am thinking of using the Johnson's bath time tonight to her sleep but my friend was really against it saying she tioo young....what do you all think?

please help

Feeding on demand means exactly as you are doing - feeding her when she asks and allowing her to decide how much or little to take.

Sometimes babies have growth spurts and want to feed loads, so that's perfectly normal.

4 weeks is too early to have a feed or sleep routine, and although newborns sleep all the time after a few weeks they do tend to wake up.

As for bubble bath, it's up to you really. I didn't use wipes/soap/bubble bath on my ds til quite a lot later as it's not really necessary and he had sensitive skin. Bubble bath won't affect her sleep though.

Thank you so much. Put my mind at rest. I will see how she gets on for the rest of the day
